Snoqualmie Falls / Snoqualmie, WA // Tipsy Cow Burger Bar / Redmond, WA

After much indecisive debate on how to occupy our time, we decided some type of adventure followed by a good burger was a very patriotic thing to for a little independence day celebrating. Over the fourth of July weekend, I had the opportunity to finally make the short 20-30 minute drive to Snoqualmie Falls in Snoqualmie, WA. After living in Bellevue and Kirkland for the last two years and even working around the falls for four months, I can't believe it took me this long to make it out there.

Since it was a scenic trip, my boyfriend and I took the back way from Kirkland through Redmond and Fall City via Redmond-Fall City Rd to North Bend Way. While the Fourth of July itself was overcast with intermittent sprinkles, Sunday was a gorgeous sunny picturesque day perfect for a little jaunt to the country.

It was completely a spontaneous trip (aka the best kind). However, we weren't very equipped for the hiking part. You can get by with flip flops - because lets be real, I wouldn't let a little footwear stop me from getting a view like the above image by staying at the top. The hike down was easy, the hike back up was a little brutal and the rocks were a bit hard to navigate at the bottom but overall it was great!

More pics and restaurant review after the jump!

Maybe someday when I have a little extra cash for a little stay-cation I'll visit the Salish Lodge/Spa/Restaurant at the top. Perched at the top of this waterfall is not a bad place to be!

There were quite a lot of people that climbed over the gate and hiked down to the beach. Even with a crowd it was still breath-taking. Everyone there was very courteous and even willing to take a few snapshots for their fellow visitor.

This is probably my new favorite self-portrait. It doesn't seem like it should be real but it is. When my east coast cousin saw this picture she immediately asked, "is this heaven?" I totally feel like it is!

Yes, that is the face of pure joy.

I highly recommend taking a trip out here if you can. It's the perfect remedy for a hot, sunny day.

After our hike, we stopped for a bite to eat at the Tipsy Cow Burger Bar in Redmond. I got the Rockstar burger with a substitute of sweet potato fries and a side of their salted honey aioli and it was amazing! Their menu describes The Rockstar as Custom Ground LVR Beef, Brew Battered & Fried Daily's Bacon, Maple Syrup Drizzle, Beecher's Flagship White Cheddar, Fried Organic Egg, Caramelized Sweet Onion, Bibb Lettuce, Tomato, Tipsy Sauce. Yum! My boyfriend ordered The Arsonist and substituted for the jacked up fries which also did not disappoint with their delicious cheese topping. While the calorie intake is a bit unreal, the flavor is fantastic. Mine featured a fried egg on top which my boyfriend was more than happy to sop up the pools of yolk that squeezed out with his fries... Messy is great at this place.

Here is an image I found on the internet of their rockstar burger because I was too much of a fat kid to even stop and take a picture my mouth was watering that much.

So if you are in need of a fun little trip and maybe a good bite to eat... here are some options just a little outside of Seattle.
